THE MEANEST MAN IN TOWN

I am still going over the indictment of Governor Rod Blagojevich (Gov. Possumhead) . Man dude is in trouble and it's gonna spread to other prominent names in Illinois politics. In a wonderful move Elliott Ness (US Atty. Gen Pat Fitzgerald) arrested Gov. Possumhead as he was preparing for his morning run.

Wanna see some of the indictment? So do I let's look deeper into why the Governor of Illinois was arrested and let's guess who some of the other names are! This is gonna be GREAT!

(Courtesy of Chicago Tribune - this document is PUBLIC RECORD)

...in early October 2008, the government obtained information that ROD BLAGOJEVICH was accelerating his corrupt fund raising activities to accumulate as much money as possible before the implementation of ethics legislation on January 1, 2009, that would severely curtail ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s ability to raise money from individuals and entities conducting business with the State of Illinois. Based in part on the recently obtained information, and as part of the investigation into ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s corrupt fund raising efforts, in October 2008 the government obtained court approval to intercept oral communications in certain locations in the offices of Friends of Blagojevich.

In addition, as part of its investigation, the government obtained court approval to intercept
wire communications on the home phone of ROD BLAGOJEVICH.

Oh oh sounds like trouble maybe he should not talk on the phone so much huh? Let's move on...

On October 8, 2008, during a discussion of fundraising from various individuals and entities, the discussion turned to Children’s Memorial Hospital, and ROD BLAGOJEVICH told Individual A words to the effect of “I’m going to do $8 million for them. I want to get [Hospital Executive 1] for 50.” Individual A understood this to be a reference to a desire to obtain a $50,000 campaign contribution from Hospital Executive 1, the Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Memorial Hospital.

Damn - this was just one Hospital...dude what the fuck? That money total is starting to add up...this is one mean guy - and so close to Hanakwanzmas...

Individual A said that he/she understood ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s reference to $8 million to
relate to his recent commitment to obtain for Children’s Memorial Hospital $8 million in
state funds through some type of pediatric care reimbursement. As described in further detail
below, intercepted phone conversations between ROD BLAGOJEVICH and others indicate
that ROD BLAGOJEVICH is contemplating rescinding his commitment of state funds to
benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital because Hospital Executive 1 has not made a recent
campaign contribution to ROD BLAGOJEVICH.

Now let's get to the Cubs and Gov. Possumheads wacky wife...

Intercepted phone calls reflect that ROD BLAGOJEVICH and JOHN HARRIS, together with others, are corruptly using and threatening to use the powers of ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s office as Governor of the State of Illinois to exert financial pressure on the owners of the Tribune Company, the parent corporation of the Chicago Tribune newspaper, to fire Chicago Tribune editorial board members who were responsible for editorials sharply critical of ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s actions as Governor and, among other things, calling for his impeachment.

On the evening of November 3, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH talked to Deputy
Governor A. ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that he was concerned about possibly being
impeached in the Spring and that the Chicago Tribune will be “driving” the impeachment
discussion. ROD BLAGOJEVICH asked Deputy Governor A to check to see if the Tribune
has recently “advocate[d]” that he be impeached. In fact, the Chicago Tribune recently had
published editorials critical of ROD BLAGOJEVICH. In another call between ROD BLAGOJEVICH and Deputy Governor A that occurred a short time later on November 3, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH and Deputy Governor A discussed an editorial from the Chicago Tribune regarding the endorsement of Michael Madigan and calling for a committee to consider impeaching ROD BLAGOJEVICH. During the call, ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s wife can be heard in the background telling ROD BLAGOJEVICH to tell Deputy Governor A “to hold up that fucking Cubs shit. . . fuck them.”

Wow! She is a tyrant to huh? Even though I agree with her on the whole fuck the Cubs thing. And finally how he tried to hijack the Senate pick oh this shit is rich...

On November 3, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH talked with Deputy Governor A. This discussion occurred the day before the United States Presidential election. ROD BLAGOJEVICH and Deputy Governor A discussed the potential Senate seat vacancy.

During the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH told Deputy Governor A that if he is not
going to get anything of value for the open Senate seat, then ROD BLAGOJEVICH will take
the Senate seat himself: “if . . . they’re not going to offer anything of any value, then I might just take it.” Later on November 3, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH spoke with Advisor A. By this time, media reports indicated that Senate Candidate 1, an advisor to the President-elect, was interested in the Senate seat if it became vacant, and was likely to be supported by the President-elect. During the call, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated, “unless I get something real good for [Senate Candidate 1], shit, I’ll just send myself, you know what I’m saying.” ROD BLAGOJEVICH later stated, “I’m going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I’m saying. And if I don’t get what I want and I’m not satisfied with it, then I’ll just take the Senate seat myself.” Later, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that the Senate seat “is a fucking valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.”

ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that the “trick . . . is how do you conduct indirectly . . . a negotiation” for the Senate seat. Thereafter, ROD BLAGOJEVICH analogized his situation to that of a sports agent shopping a potential free agent to various teams, stating “how much are you offering, [President-elect]? What are you offering, [Senate Candidate 2]? . . . Can always go to. . . [Senate Candidate 3].” Later ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that he will make a decision on the Senate seat “in good faith . . . but it is not coming for free. . . .It’s got to be good stuff for the people of Illinois and good for me.” ROD BLAGOJEVICH states “[President-elect], you want it? Fine. But, its got to be good or I could always take [the Senate seat].”

In regards to the Senate seat, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated “I’ve got this thing and it’s fucking golden, and, uh, uh, I’m just not giving it up for fuckin’ nothing. I’m not gonna do it. And, and I can always use it. I can parachute me there.”

ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that the consultants (Advisor B and another consultant are believed to be on the call at that time) are telling him that he has to “suck it up” for two years and do nothing and give this “motherfucker [the President-elect] his senator. Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him.” ROD BLAGOJEVICH states that he will put “[Senate Candidate 4]” in the Senate “before I just give fucking [Senate Candidate 1] a fucking Senate seat and I don’t get anything.”

And there it is...Rod Blagojevich is unreal. He would still be robbing and stealing from the people of the Illinois. Let's back up a bit...Senate Candidate 1 I think is Valerie Jarrett even though she has a position in 44's administration she could still want that seat. The idea that ANYBODY will fuck with Blago now would make them insane. 44 certainly won't have anything to do with him...he has completely destroyed the office of Governor and in turn tarnishing the reputation of the State.

Should he be impeached? NO. He should resign immediately and wait for his certain jail sentence. There is also one person who is shaking in his boots - this I know for certain, Mayor Richard M. Daley. He is also under the scope of the FBI and the feds. He has been Teflon up to now but Patrick Fitzgerald is not going anyplace...the phone tapping isn't limited to Blago and everybody knows it.

Damn...the dude really started something and it may be quite some time before this is resolved.

BREAKING NEWS

BLAGOJEVICH ARRESTED

In lieu of comment let me just say he is in trouble. Huge trouble.

You can read the indictment here and keep in mind that I will have a more thought out comment later in the day. I have read the indictment and it is unreal the shit that he tried to do and could possibly still do.

That's hubris. That's unweening arrogance; arrogance run wild

WEEKEND UPDATE or QUICK HITS (so I don't get sued)

In what has been a very, very interesting 2008 this blog begins to wrap things up with another fine edition of QUICK HITS.

44

President-Elect Obama
has been plugging away telling anyone who'll listen that he isn't the President yet but hell , are you sure you don't want to start now? The horrid and deadly administration that is George W. Bush has catapult this country into a secondary depression, two un-winnable "wars", and everything else that goes with that. 44 has started putting together a stellar cabinet but HRC is a curious choice at best for Secretary of State. I'm not sayin'...I'm just sayin'. Keep a close eye on that one.

SAY WHAT?!

Mayor Richard M. Daley
has killed the parking holiday. I always thought one of the cool things about this city (as a former driver) was the challenge to find a parking meter that either stopped taking money before 9pm OR parking in front of one on Sundays and Holidays for free. The Mayor has leased out the bloody parking meters. I know that "in these tough economic times" every penny counts and cities are losing money and revenue is everything but c'mon Mr. Mayor! A 75 YEAR DEAL? You'll be dead eight times in 75 years! I understand that there is a $1.2 Billion windfall for the city but that money could and will be spent in a couple of years. YOU WANT A 75 YEAR DEAL?!?!?!? Money you will never get back...the private company will collect from your piggy banks for the next 75 years Mr. Mayor. You made 19 million dollars in revenue since last year. Let's see 19 million dollars multiplied by 75 years... WOW! That's a lot of money my friend. You can't see that Mr Mayor? Oh my fault...Mayor for life - blah, blah, blah...do what I say blah, blah, blah. I wonder if he'll make the Olympic reps he's trying to impress pay for parking...not very smart. Mayor Richard Michael Daley - you screwed the pooch my friend...

OBAMAVILLE

Please make 44's block a cul-de-sac so that the residents can have 51st back...I want him protected too but come on...

DERRICK ROSE IS REALLY GOOD

D Rose
is way ahead of his self in terms of development and leadership abilities and all that but have you watched the show yet? He is AWFULLY good and he is the best Bulls player since Michael J. Jordan. He'll be a first team All-Star and you will remember this post. There, I said it. Oh...2010 there will be a gang of free agents in the NBA. Chris Bosh and D. Wade...please PLEASE think about coming to Chicago...oh and Mr. Chairman - fire John Paxson before then.

THANKS AND STUFF

Here
is a copy of this past weeks NEWS FROM the SERVICE ENTRANCE ( 12/4/2008) and I would like to thank Valerie Warner from WGN Morning News and I also would like to thank my good friend Mr. Scoop Jackson from ESPN for being on the show this week.

MOURNING

Some people who read this will not like what I am about to say. Leave Jennifer Hudson ALONE. GO HOME! If two people maybe three are killed in a home NO MATTER THE TIME OF DAY someone heard a gunshot right? I mean its a 45 caliber weapon. Who couldn't hear that right? Standing in front of her house is doing NOTHING Get involved and stop that "not snitchin'" bullshit. GET INVOLVED. I ber one of the singer/prayers heard those shots...

Why do black folks ALWAYS do what we’ve witnessed this past week? The need to stand outside of a crime scene is mind-boggling. I have a friend who lives down the street from the Hudson family home. I asked him how he was holding up because the stress in his voice was unusually high. HE CAN’T LEAVE HIS DAMN HOUSE!

He told me the “stream of cars, people and teddy bears” has continued and continues well into the early morning hours. For the love of God – GO Y’ALL SINGING AND PRAYING ASSES HOME! Can she have a chance to mourn? SHE HAS TO BURY THREE PEOPLE! Really y’all – singing SPOTLIGHT (Jennifer Hudson’s latest hit) is SO inappropriate I can’t articulate how stupid it sounds. Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE Jennifer Hudson. She’s smart, beautiful, talented and a very nice woman. She has made a way for herself that should be respected and admired. I know what its like to lose a mother…she needs the support of her inner circle and the well wishes of her “fans” but this whole vigil mess is disturbing.

Here are some things to ponder before you send me angry emails…

Triple homicides NO MATTER THE COLOR OF THE MURDERED are a horrible, horrible thing to try to analyze. The shoddy police work done by Jody Weis and co is further proof that Jody Weis MUST be removed from his job NOW. The crime rate in Chicago spiked once Mayor Daley installed Mr. Weis. How do the police look for a white truck, find the alleged driver of the truck 13 miles from the crime scene and NOT look for the truck itself? It was down the street with the body of a 7 yr. old in it. It took a ghetto Chihuahua to find the damn truck. Jody and co. must GO NOW.

Mayor Daley – forget about the Olympics my man…this seals it. Chicago is a “hotbed of death” right now, murder capital of the US. Do you really think that the world wants to come here for that? You are ignoring the issue when you say “please get rid if the guns” to the press. The problem is the lack of opportunities for men living in “the hood”. No hope, no jobs, no nothing. I bet that if this happens on Goethe up in Streeterville – the city would shut down. Your incompetence in this matter is frightening. Here’s to Brazil. Congrats on the Olympics in 2016. Too much death here... By the way – if this were a third world country, the United Nations Peacekeeping Force would be on 70th and Yale and every other “bad street and neighborhood" in this city. Shame on you Mr. Mayor.

One last thing - to the people standing in front of a fucking crime scene. If you want to do something how about starting a fund/foundation in Julian King’s name. That would be the way to show Jennifer Hudson and her remaining family that her “fans” care not only about her and her loss but the future of the children of this city. Send a kid to college in Julian King’s name. Give a kid a chance to do what this little boy didn’t get a chance to do. Oh yeah…too busy singing and dropping off teddy bears to do that.

Hello World

Now that I have your attention...

Only 17 days (at this writing) until the big election! Here is something for you to ponder - on November 4th I will be involved in a really cool project called NOVEMBER DECISION 2008 on whpk.org and if you want to hear some really solid coverage of the race between Obama and McMummy, join me and my friend Mitchell Szczepanczyk for complete coverage starting at 7pm (Central) and I can promise you, if you turn down the sound on whatever you're watching and check us out - you won't be disappointed.

By the by I know I haven't written anything here in a bit but it isn't because I am neglecting the blogg - I am busy living. Relax and enjoy the 2008/10/16 version of NEWS FROM the SERVICE ENTRANCE here, here and there is an hour missing because...I don't know why an hour is missing but hopefully I can post it before it's too late..

CHOKE CUBS CHOKE (sung to the tune Go Cubs Go)

I love baseball. Most people who know me know that. I am a WHITE SOX fan NOT a Cub fan. I did however watch most of the games the cubs played this season. It was a season that saw the flashy ass cubs do all kinds of fun things. Alfonso Sori (sorry) ano and 6 - 4 - Lee and Ramirez, DeRosa oh the names are endless, Big Z, a record number of players the cubs had at the All-Star Game: 8 of them mind you and not one of them bothered to show up for three of the most important games in the history of the franchise.

In true chicago cub fashion the hapless bastards and their mean spirited fan base made me a genius. I called it in May. I figured that there was no way in the world that the cubs would be in the World Series. They were too good for the Fall Classic. That game is reserved for winners, not flubbers.

If you detect bitterness in my writing you would be accurate. The cubs you see have let their fandom down yet again and as a fan of the 2005 WORLD CHAMPION CHICAGO WHITE SOX it pains me as well. How long must I throw this modern era WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in the millions of faces of despondent cub fans? The only people who I feel the most microscopic nearly invisible iota of sorrow for are people like this one brother who has to be around 80 years old. He is a very nice gentleman and it would have been cool to see happiness in that mans face. His favorite team winning it all just one fucking time in his life.

Failed AGAIN.

Just so you know cub fans I can fix your team in two weeks...tear down Wrigley Field and build a new one. Stop blaming goats, black cats, Bartman, Leon Durham, aliens, Donavon McNabb's mom, Dave Chappelle's trip to Africa, the Wall Street Bailout, Sam Zell, my high school drama teacher Mrs. Czaja, Bono and anybody else you can think of. Tear down Wrigley because the joint is a bad memory...I wonder if there is a scientific term for what you cub fans go through? Man it must SUCK having to endure the same thing over and over again...wait a second I think I have a word for it albeit not a scientific term lets look at the definition:

Pronunciation:
\in-ˈsa-nə-tē\
Function:
noun
Inflected Form(s):
plural in·san·i·ties
Date:
1590
INSANITY - a deranged state of the mind usually occurring as a specific disorder (as schizophrenia) 2: such unsoundness of mind or lack of understanding as prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or as removes one from criminal or civil responsibility 3 a: extreme folly or unreasonableness b: something utterly foolish or unreasonable

Pick one cub fans because if you read this all the way through and you are still a fan of the Chicago Cubs after what they did to you AGAIN then you are insane.

NEWS FROM the SERVICE ENTRANCE

Hey everyone...you can catch the 09/03/2008 show here.

I missed the debates but I imagine that Sarah or Sara or Satan was busy in the debate last night. Felt really nice...

Hope you enjoy the show and if any of you ladies missed it during the show Tyrone wants to go on a date with YOU! Listen for Tyrone's email during the show and act on that. The brother is a great guy and he is dead serious.

Enjoy your weekend and be safe.

OUICK HITS

What's in your wallet? Probably not much. Well this is about much more than the "bailout" or balls out as it were. This is about the sudden urgency to fix something that has been broken for YEARS.

Solving this "crisis" quickly is like the cops trying to find a criminal after a horrific, brutal and mind numbing crime and snatching someone off the street and pinning the crime on he/she. That would never happen right? NO ONE SCREWS WITH THE INNOCENT NOW DO THEY?

Of course people mess with the innocent however the innocent often have to pay for someone else's mess. That is where we are. The crisis isn't my fault or yours unless you are one of those who make over $1,000,000 a year as your company goes in the toilet. Know this: you SHOULD care very much about what happens in the next few days in Washington DC and around the world. Around the world? Indeed.

The EU is "requesting" that the US get its collective shit together and straighten out the mess they've made. You should go here and watch what my good friend found. I think its called the truth and the truth needs no support.

BRING IN THE DOUBLE

So John McMummy is still keeping Sarah Palin around huh? Figures that he would and now he's holding her hand in TV interviews.

On the surface it seems that Sarah is a bumbling idiot who may have very well plowed her competition with her overwhelming lack of general knowledge. She is getting grilled by the media because of McCain's certainty that she is stupid enough to actually do the job. Matt Taibbi wrote a wonderful article in this months Rolling Stone about Mrs. Palin. She is as nutty as they get and if she manages to become a power player in US politics, the nation will suffer for that. Shame on you John McMummy for picking a politically incompetent person. Dan Quayle in a skirt.

IT'S MY MONEY AND I NEED IT NOW!

Funny how politics and money are like steak and eggs. The pairing is unlikely yet delicious...Barack Obama watched John McMummy do something on three occasions that may have slipped past people. First McMummy tried to take credit for calling Barack Obama first suggesting that they make a joint statement and then in effect - quitting the campaign. On two other occasions McMummy said that he had brokered an agreement in the "bailout". Both times when there was an alleged agreement the Democrats killed it. They killed it because...wait a second, exactly what is the plan? Oh well who cares right? It's (y)our money that they are playing with. Democrats are banking - sorry about that - on this being the "9/11" event that propels Barack Obama to the presidency and it just might.

COMPARISON SHOPPING

I am not the smartest man on earth...although I wish I were. If I were I would have the answer to the burning question - why would anyone think for a second that John McCain is the choice for them. I'll go the Obama route and say that while he may be a nice man and honorable and all of those wonderful things, he most certainly is forgetful. He forgot to pass the King Holiday...he forgot for like 15 or 16 years. He forgot that he and his running mate have oil interests too just like Bush and Cheney. He forgot that we saw him on that runway 3 years ago when GW came to celebrate his birthday with him while in NOLA and the rest of the Gulf, water was flowing everywhere and destruction and chaos were running wild.

Let's now call this what it is: youth versus experience, mettle vs diplomacy, white vs black. No matter that Senator Obama's mom is a white woman in the eyes of of white America this is white vs black. In lieu of common sense the RNC had their Whites Only goose step party and there was a grand total of 36 black delegates. To what interests do the Republicans have for black Americans unless they are singing, dancing, running, jumping, acting or stealing. None. Clearly an aspiring black republican had to have been turned off by this weeks convention.

The parties platform does not have any substance and to be honest I didn't hear one policy idea or one bill idea or anything that would make me say "you know, that is a great idea" because THEY HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER. Except DEATH and DESTRUCTION and POVERTY and WAR and the Real ID and chip implants and all the shit that scares you at night, they got MORE OF IT THAN THEY KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH.

John McCain and Mrs. Bush (Palin) while giving the appearance of wanting "change" they came off kind of Matrix-y (thanks to Chuck Sudo for that one). Listen, no one is disillusioned or maniacal or crazy or any of those things. I clearly see how this is going to end. The Repubs are going to try to hijack the electoral vote. There I said it. Hijack the Electoral vote and revisit the appointment of GW. You do remember that right? They know they can't win in the court of popular opinion so they'll try and hijack your trust and those votes and the worlds view of who and what Americans are.

I wish I could be more positive but it is what it is. Now if I could just figure out who the electoral voters in my state are...how does one go about doing that? Well on the way to find that - I found THIS. So wow this is taking a very "matrix-y" turn isn't it?

To Be Continued...

Thursday, September 4, 2008

IT'S ALMOST OVER

I am really beginning to think that the RNC in Minneapolis is really one of those outdoor church tent revival thingys...snake oil and used car salesmen from all over the country trying to sell me on some unwanted bullshit. There are only 36 black delegates at the convention. Imagine that a party without a lot of black folks there...must be more like a Klan rally but I digress...more on those freaky people later and there is quite a bit to talk about.

Before I lose my mind, check out the 04/09/2008 version of News From the Service Entrance. show out here and here.

DECISIONS DECISIONS

I waited for the answer...got it...thought about it and here it is: I hope to the heavens that the choice is a good one. Senator Barack Obama and his staff selected Senator Joe Biden to share the ticket with the presumptive presidential candidate. Joe Biden is the pit bull that Obama can't be. He can go at John McCain with the ferocity that is necessary to change the minds of people who may not vote for Obama. The first thing that comes to mind when you see that Biden is "the guy" is, "Didn't he run for president like 5 times"? Okay maybe not five times but you get my point.

I've been trying to figure out what it was that Biden did that made him withdraw from the race in '88...what did he do? Was it a comment on race? Did he have an affair? Nope...did a minimal amount of searching and here is what I found: He came under fire for his exaggeration of his academic record and his alleged plagiarism. Ah...I see he was accused of embellishing on his academic record (who hasn't right?) and he was accused of plagiarizing British Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock and it all comes back to me. He had been giving Kinnock his props in every speech but one and then presidential candidate Democrat Michael Dukakis sabotaged Biden via video. There was one speech in which he didn't credit Kinnock (here is the wikipedia account of the "plagiarism - remember this is from Wiki so...) and that with the alleged academic issue killed his campaign - dead man walking.

If memory serves me right Joe Biden is a decent fellow who does what most of us do...he gets passionate about his shit - not literally but you get my point. He grilled the shit out of Supreme Court nominees Robert Bork and Anthony Kennedy as head of the Judiciary Committee, he's the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee - not my favorite committee but ya know...he's also been known to open his mouth and have a lot of crap fall out of it. Joe Biden doesn't make me nervous well at least not as nervous as say this woman does. The Democratic National Convention is this week and John Wayne McCain is going to try and get into a dogfight with Biden and that is where Mr. Biden becomes useful. Biden will be the venom that EVERYONE wishes Obama would be.

So here we go...Obama/Biden vs. McCain and whomever he chooses and once again it's on, it's the battle for the souls of...a nation. The world is watching and listening and reading blogs like this one. How important is it to YOU to select the best choice for CEO of Planet EARTH? What does it mean for YOU to have a candidate who can deal with adversity or a candidate who might kick off another series of unfortunate events. I want to know what you think...leave a comment telling me how YOU feel about the upcoming race. I truly want to know what you think...get into it, get involved and talk to me.

QUICK HITS

SO DON'T GET CARRIED AWAY - YET

There is an element of certainty in certain things...what we in Chicago now know about the murder of Mya Lyons is as much as we knew a few days ago. Mya was found by her father a little bit more than a week ago in an area that borders a set of train tracks. Almost immediately her father was guitly in the court of public opinion and on 26/7/2008 her father was nearly identified by the Chicago Police. I say nearly because they towed a van away and its unclear whos van it is but what is clear is that the fire is being stoked and her dad is the prime suspect. I have two words for you: JonBenet Ramsey. Her parents and brother were guilty in that same court of pulic opinion until 10/7/2008 when DNA evidence cleared them as the suspects in that childs murder. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...let the police do their job and lets hope that whoever killed that child gets caught soon.

YOU'VE GOT THE LOOK

So Barack Obama decided he wanted to take a trip overseas and check the vibe of the world. Well wtf do you think happened? The world loves this shit and they have already declared him as el presidente! Funny how shit works out huh? Obama goes to Paris and President Sarkozy sets him out! Big press conference with foreign and US journalists in attendance and Sarkozy all but endorsed him on the spot. McCain went to Paris too...no one cared. No big press conference, no croissants, no fries - nothing french for him at all. It is really getting close to the part of our program where we start laughing uncontrollably at the candidacy of John Wayne McCain and the bumbling antics of the Republican party. Congrats President Obama...almost.

LET'S PARTY LIKE IT'S 1977!!!

I am not a fan of 90% of Chicago Cub fans. The ten percent that I like get it. The baseball season does not end in June. It does not end when you are in first place after the All-Star break. Baseball season ends in September/October. The Cubs were in first place for a nice long time in 1977. I was ten and I remember it so, so well. They were in the lead for a good portion of the baseball season BUT they choked. Every Cub team has either choked or were never in it every year of my life (41). I expect nothing different now. I am saying it to the world first. IF THE CUBS LOSE THEIR FIRST PLACE SPOT - THEY WILL NOT GET IT BACK. Good luck to them though but I hope the 90% of Cub Fans I don't like can take it...without dinner and a movie too...damn.

Special thanks to the folks at Elastic Arts Foundation who allowed me to work on the blog in their spacious offices here in Chicago.

RUN JESSE RUN

What the fuck is going on with Jesse Jackson? Why now brother Jesse? Why put yourself out there like that? In case you didn't hear Rev. Jacksons comments, you can read them here. In my personal opinion, that was the worst thing I have ever heard an elder say. On that note - just because you are old doesn't make you smart or an elder. I know a 75 year old dummy trust me, gray don't make you wise.

This marks the third time a "Rev" has made a kooky statement that has Senator Obama involved in it and these are the ones that we hear about! Can you imagine the shit that is being said out of earshot? Here is something that requires me to say this with all due respect: SHUT THE FUCK UP! Media hungry and without malice you did NOTHING to help the situation. Generational Jealousy is what you are practicing. Jesse Jackson has been the invisible man on so many occasions and unbelievably, overexposed on others. Let's compare notes shall we?

The hiring of Jody Weis as Chicago Police Superintendent was a move that many considered harmful to the city and that has proved itself out in that the number of violent crimes has peaked in the short time since his hire. Jesse Jackson -Invisible.

Rev. Jackson made an appearance at the Stevie Wonder concert and remained offstage for a considerable amount of time. Knowing the relationship that Stevie and Jesse have this comes as no surprise but he had no problem sucking up that lovely Taste of Chicago limelight. Jesse Jackson- Overexposed.

Mumia Abu-Jamal has been in jail for way to long...Jesse Jackson - Invisible.

Mayor Daley and his band of merry men want to destroy Washington Park and the King Drive corridor to make their 2016 Olympic Dreams come true. This potential destruction would mean the displacement of thousands of Chicagoans - Chicagoans of color. Sort of a "black flight" from the city to the burbs. A very complex gentrification project. Jesse Jackson - Invisible.

Those are just a few examples - not mentioning the invisibility on the streets of Chicago where so much violence has taken place but he RAN to the aid of the Jena 6. Jesse Jackson - Overexposed.

Now he decides to make a comment about Senator Obama and to make it worse he "apologized" as soon as he found out about the comment being shown on the news. Why? Let that shit ride Jesse I mean you said it. That is how you felt and after all, the GJ (Generational Jealousy) makes you right in your own mind anyway. The apology in general is overplayed and making one is as stupid in some instances as the original statement.

People in Chicago know that you hate this. You can't stand Barack Obama getting all of the attention. You think it should have been YOU. You "Rev." have been suspect since the day Dr. King died on that damn balcony. You wanting to castrate Obama has nothing to do with him "talking down to black people" , it has everything to do with you being a jealous man...that sir is a sin. It is based on you not being "the one" and you making it hard to stick by you. That feeling may change and in the interest of public disclosure, Jesse Jr. and Jonathon Jackson are people that I know and you sir are a friend of members of my family who have been with you since the Operation Breadbasket days but this is where I hop off Rev. Jackson.

I am ashamed today of you Jesse Jackson. Ashamed.

THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH

This one comes from the heart and I am not kidding - at all...

The Light of the Highest power exists in the person of Stevie Wonder. It is visible and present. I saw it and it is overwhelming. I have never said anything like that about him prior to seeing him at the Waste - sorry, the Taste of Chicago the last Saturday in June, 2008.

But this is more than a post about the show (two hours and forty minutes and thirty songs) or how good his band is or the backup singers. This post is about how we can all learn something from someone who has the inane ability to remain a free spirit in this day and age.

Being a free spirit is what we were when we were children remember? Our responsibility when we were children was to remain within eyesight and earshot of our families. We were creative and full of energy and we were humble almost to a fault. We knew inherently LOVE. Never did we question what that was and on many occasions when we were children we had exclusive meet and greets with a higher being.

What makes people like Stevie great isn't so much the longevity of his music although that is important. In my opinion we need to walk closer to our true self in order to get that free spirit back. Listen I know about reality and this may end up being as corny as anything that you may ever read but I firmly believe that if we pursue something hard enough, we get it. If we seek knowledge we find it. If it's sex you want and you want it bad enough you find that. Money, look for it and BAM you can find it. It seems that nobody is looking for inner respect and THAT is what I got out of that concert. The inner respect that the man has for himself is incredibly, blatantly obvious.

In my opinion Stevie Wonder has it and in his attempt to be what Berry Gordy saw years ago, he has transcended everything we know about modern music and he is without question or peer the most important living musician on PLANET EARTH. For me however it's this very public walk with GOD that he is taking and his wisdom that he has shared with us for all these years. The look on peoples faces and watching the reaction of children when he played. How he has as many accomplishments outside of music as he does in it (Stevie was Bono waaaaay before Bono) and how he extends this happy feeling in such an ugly world. We owe it to ourselves to reintroduce ourselves to what he has been saying all this time. It might help, I mean really what can it hurt?

This is real talk...pass it on. Stevie Wonder is the Absolute Truth...

SIMEON HS FINALLY GETS THEIR #1

It came 24 years late but Simeon high school located on the south side of Chicago got what they deserved. A major weight lifted from their shoulders. Twenty four years ago Ben Wilson was destined to be the number one draft pick - maybe. We'll never really know that for sure in that Benji was murdered down the street from his school 24 years ago...it's been that long huh? Simeon has always turned out wonderful hoopers and that isn't easy for me to say since I am a Chicago Vocational man myself.

Derrick Rose is going to be fine folks, stop worrying. I've heard some go as far as to say that the Bulls are doomed for picking him. That is crazy people talk and his talent will soon become a wonderful piece to a ever changing puzzle. I hope they give the kid a chance but this isn't so much about "Pooh". This piece is about the people who attend Simeon and the people who live in "the wood" Chicago's Englewood neighborhood.

They deserve a huge break and hopefully today they finally know what having a weight lifted from your collective shoulders feels like. I know it's basketball. I know DR is going to make a zillion dollars. I know that "the wood" will still have it's share of setbacks. But maybe the kid from "the wood" who attended "the meon" will be that guy for those people, his people from his part of this great city.

SO WHAT? NO FLYING CARS EITHER?!

Those wacky elected officials in Congress truly have it out for you and I. With the future of our "energy crisis" hanging in the balance, the Senate - the Demoncratic Senate decided to vote down a bill that has great potential. Check this out (this comes courtesy of Biofuels Digest.com)By a vote of 50-44, the US Senate failed to invoke cloture and end Republican opposition to a $120 billion bill that extends the research and development credit and incentives for wind, solar, biodiesel, and clean-coal. Senate Republicans said they opposed a $1.6 billion tax break for trial lawyers in the bill, plus an unfinanced provision for the alternative minimum tax. With debate not closed, the bill cannot proceed to a floor vote in the Senate although Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus of Montana said that he expected to have enough votes within ten days to invoke cloture and send the bill to the Senate for a vote.

You've seen the wind farms right? Those are having a positive impact in some communities in this country as we speak. They make traditional energy sources pale in comparison giving some rural towns a golden opprotunity to live the "future" right now. The REPUBLICRATS said no no no no no no no no no to something as simple as a tax credit. While many of you are paying almost $5 a gallon for gas and who knows how much for electricity, the powers that be who run Congress don't get down like that. So we are hoping that Senator Max Baucus can elicit enough moxy to get the ten votes needed to make this a go.

You may be asking yourself - why should I care about this? When there is so much other crap going on in the world, why should I care about the future? That's why because it's the future we are hoping to be around for! This is the future. Right now. Again from Biofuels Digest:Last week, observers said that a bill introduced by Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Judd Gregg, (R-NH), to reduce the ethanol tariff from 54 cents to 45 cents is doomed. The bill, which is now in the Senate Finance Committee, is opposed by both committee chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and ranking Republican Chuck Grassley (D-IA). Aides said that the Finance Committee, in addition, does not typically fast-track bills proposed by Senators outside of the committee, and there is not enough time on the normal legislative clock to pass major new energy legislation this year. There isn't enough time?! WTF?! When will there be a better time?! Our climate is spiraling out of control and nobody gives a crap.

My friends, Agri-business is the true wave of the so called "future". The way we drive our autos now and light our homes and power our cities, that is where the real money is. Well now wait a second. I'm sure that our Presidential candidates have something to add to this discussion...here is the Cliff Notes version which can be found in full at barackobama.com: Invest $150 Billion over 10 Years in Clean Energy: Obama will invest $150 billion over 10 years to advance the next generation of biofuels and fuel infrastructure, accelerate the commercialization of plug-in hybrids, promote development of commercial-scale renewable energy, invest in low-emissions coal plants, and begin the transition to a new digital electricity grid. A principal focus of this fund will be devoted to ensuring that technologies that are developed in the U.S. are rapidly commercialized in the U.S. and deployed around the globe.

Well how about that? Sounds like there is a plan afoot right? Well what about McCain? Where does he stand? (Courtesy of johnmccain.com) John McCain will establish a market-based system to curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, mobilize innovative technologies, and strengthen the economy. He will work with our international partners to secure our energy future, to create opportunities for American industry, and to leave a better future for our children. There is more of this kind of rhetoric on his website. Well that makes me feel warm and fuzzy...more of the same from a "Real American Hero"

God in Heaven, please make it stop...This is yet another example of politicians saying the same thing but one has a dollar amount and the other well...sounds "Bushy" to me. Call your Senator and ask them to please pass the following bill:
H.R. 6049 (Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act of 2008 ) so that we can truly start thinking forward on how we plan on maximizing our resources in what they call the future which really is NOW!

THE RETURN OF SOUL TRAIN!

From the didn't see that coming file Don Cornelius the creator and impressario of the Soul Train franchise (yes it's a franchise go to Japan if you think I'm joking) sold his baby to a company called MadVision. This from Paid Content : The iconic franchise, founded in 1970 by Cornelius, includes the brand and the production rights for the weekly Soul Train series (not in production anymore), along with a catalog of about 1,100 hours of archival footage spanning the shows long 37-year run. The short term plans for the show are to start producing new shows and continuing to broadcast the "classic" Soul Train episodes. For sooooo many years Don Cornelius (WVON radio alumnus) didn't want you or I to see an episode, look at it on You Tube, buy it on DVD or any media. This could be excellent news or with the music scene being what it is, it could be the worst TV show on Earth. I think it'll be okay though considering the "New" ST could still rely on it's brand to get credible artists to be on the show.

Some more background on ST from Wikipedia: Soul Train premiered on WCIU-TV in Chicago on August 17, 1970 as a daily program. Its success attracted the attention of two Chicago-based companies -- the Johnson Products Company (manufacturers of the Afro Sheen line of hair-care products), and Sears, Roebuck and Co. -- who agreed to sponsor the program's expansion into syndication. Soul Train began airing in selected cities across the United States, on a weekly basis, on October 2, 1971.

Let's hope that everything is good with this national treasure - that's right I said it! Soul Train means a lot to a lot of people. Hopefully it will be in better hands than it's been.

HOT FUN IN THE SUMMERTIME

In Chicago this weekend the Chicago Police were admittedly busy doing has to be a difficult job. I am not beyond knowing how hard a job it has to be. The word on the street is that this summer unlike most summers, the rate of violence (hood issues) will be higher than ever and that blood will flow in our streets. Not to be outdone - the POLICE are doing the shooting and don't care about the summer aspect of it. Three shootings over the weekend by the police. One man killed by the police...talk about hood issues - this from the Chicago Tribune - "We do know that there was a weapon recovered, but we don't have any other details about what happened," said David Banks (Chicago Police spokesman), who added the department may put out a statement later Monday morning. Mark Payne, the IPRA's spokesman, said his office launched an investigation but was trying to gather information Monday morning.

The IPRA - The Independent Police Review Authority has been recently established to investigate crimes against the people by the police, crimes like this. This organization is ran by Ilana Rosenzweig. Ilana is from Los Angeles. She was in charge of keeping the peace between the police and the citizens and I am not a member of the Los Angeles community but it doesn't look like she did a good job. From the LA Times - In L.A., our approach of looking at the conduct of the officers is not just when they pulled the trigger, but everything that preceded it and came after it,” Rosenzweig said.

Well let's see how that's working out shall we? During the past ten months the Chicago Police have (according to the LA Times) an officer used a Taser on an 82-year-old woman in her home, a federal jury awarded $4 million to a man who said he was sodomized by an officer with a screwdriver during a search, and the Police Board overrode recommendations to fire an officer who was seen on a security tape beating a suspect handcuffed in a wheelchair – and who later lied about his actions.

Aaron Harrison was shot in his back by the police...an off duty cop beat up a bartender...a group of policemen beat up some businessmen outside a bar in Downtown Chicago. The city is doing everything it can to keep this news as quiet as possible because the city DESPERATELY wants to host the Olympics in 2016. (However I imagine if China can host an Olympic games anyone can.)

For it to be made story number one like the R. Kely story was Chicago could cause mighty problems for the Mayor and his duo of outsiders Mrs. Rosenzweig and newly appointed Police Superintendent Jody Weis...this from CNN -
Between 2002 and 2004, for example, more than 10,000 complaints -- many of them involving brutality and assault -- were filed against Chicago police officers. Yet only 18 of them resulted in any meaningful disciplinary action, according to Craig Futterman, a lawyer who uncovered these statistics while researching a client's claim. That was the reason Mayor Daley went outside of the city to get help. Oh I see the outsiders would be able to clean things up...no bias. It isn't working AT ALL. White folks, Black folks, Latinos, Asians even a fucking COUGAR - are getting served by the Chicago Police and not in the "Officer Friendly" fashion.

Three shootings in Chicago this weekend. Not enough staff to handle all of the complaints. Two outsiders who since their arrival have watched these number spike instaed of fall. The people are fearful of the summer and the Mayor is Olympic freakin' happy and hopes it rains so the blood can be washed easily into the sewer. That way no one will see it.

WHO USES VHS IN 2008?

So the six year odyssey has finally come to an end. Robert Kelly was acquitted on all 14 counts and then the real shit started.

Let's look at this from the perspective of Robert Kelly or at least try to. Six years ago you make a song with Sparkle, her career folds into itself, his career couldn't be going any better, you get accused of having a sexual tryst and peeing on your "goddaughter"by Sparkle, you get arrested in Miami and your camera gets confiscated, EVERYBODY BUT ME HAS SEEN THE TAPE, you start churning out new music, Dave Chappelle got with you on his show, the trial gets delayed 50 times (I know I'm skipping stuff), your appendix bursts, you can't leave Chicago, you and Jay-Z have a falling out, the trial starts and the biggest piece of evidence that the prosecution has is...a vhs tape.

This from the Chicago Tribune: Many jurors believed Kelly was the man in the tape, but they couldn't be sure that his goddaughter was the female. Without her testimony, the panel relied on a low-quality VHS tape and still photographs to determine the two participants' identities.

VHS tape and still photographs? So that was the great evidence that was supposed to put him away huh? The prosecution never had a case. Not for one second and they knew it.

So what happens now? Well on every radio station in every major city around the world, station managers ran around in tiny circles wetting themselves celebrating that R. remained free. His record label immediately went into conference rooms trying to figure out when to release his next album. Wal-Mart sold a bunch of his shit and the beat goes on.

I said on my show yesterday that the state had to prove its case and they couldn't without one very important thing - the testimony of the now 23 year old woman "in the video". You can't make lemonade with grapes son...you can't have an accused pisser go to jail without the "vic" testifying against you. I don't feel a second of pleasure or remorse that Robert Kelly didn't go to jail. Too much other stuff in the world of far greater importance. However I do think it's important to know that whether he peed on that girl (if it was her) or not, Robert Kelly needs to step back and rethink his whole deal. Reboot if you will...he has been given a straight up second chance and it would be in the best interest of all parties if he toned it down some...I mean c'mon now. Robert is 41 years old and has according to the Chicago Sun-Times - ...to settle lawsuits brought by three other underage girls. Are there not enough "aged girls" for Robert Kelly? Damn I hope so because there won't be a tape next time and "underaged" for a 41 year old man is kinda Chester the Molester-ish.

Finally - what about the mystery man and fourteen year old on the "tape" who are they and where are they? Is this the guy on the tape? What about the cameraman? I haven't viewed the tape but was there a third or possibly fourth party in the room? See now I'm doing it. Just remember folks...update your technology. You don't want to film a sexy party unless you can see it in HD.
